Foolish Games

”This is my heart bleeding before you. This is me down on my knees...”

Whenever I hear this song by Jewel, it always takes me back to the time when I first discovered the "Belgariad" series by David Eddings. In 1995, I had just bought the record “Pieces of You,” and around the same time, my brother introduced me to these captivating books. The two experiences became intertwined, creating a unique and memorable association.

When I read fiction, I often listen to music to enhance the depth and emotional impact of the experience, like a travel companion showing me a world that would otherwise go unnoticed. This painting emerged from that particular memory, blending the worlds of music and literature in my mind.

In 2003, inspired by the same series, I created three more paintings: “Pawn of Prophecy,” “Queen of Sorcery,” and “Castle of Wizardry.” The style was a bit cleaner than what I do today, but these works still hold a special place in my heart. You can see all three of them here as well, each reflecting the magic and adventure of Eddings' world.
