A Different Corner

“Take me back in time, maybe I can forget. Turn a different corner and we never would have met...”

This was my first painting in 2019, and it holds a deeply personal significance for me, more so than any of my previous works.

I'm not much into lyrics; for me, music inspires my art through its holistic experience it provides and it often guides my creative direction, which is why I get attached to certain tracks when I paint.

George Michael's song, which is part of the foundation for this painting, resonates with me deeply. It evokes the memory of losing my cousin, who died tragically young in a car accident around the same time the song was released. He was like a big brother to me, and his loss has hit me harder than I expected.

The painting itself is about navigating unexpected changes, finding the strength to move forward, and embracing new experiences with an open and non-judgmental mind. It’s a reflection of my journey through grief and growth, capturing the emotional complexity of that period in my life.
